If your grandfather died of colon cancer at 41, how early should you be checked?
I'm 29 and am wondering if I should get a colonoscopy as he died so young and my uncle had a few polyps removed at 39.

Do you think I have colon cancer?
Please serious answers only...I am scared.I am 30 weeks pregnant. Before I was pregnant so for about a year and a half I have had chronic diarrhea. I went to my Dr. and she didn't seem worried about it so I just kind of left it alone and diagnosed myself. I thought 'maybe gluten allergy' so it continued but then my husband and I went on our quest for having a baby and I kind of stopped paying attention to it.I go about 3 4 times a day and it is 9 times out of 10 runny. not really water, but runny SOMETIMES I have a normal bowel movement. NEVER bloody Although there have been a few times where I have had a big movement and feel it tear and blood is on the toilet paper. This is extremely occasional. Like 3 times a year or so Still scary Uhm so diarrhea a lot, gas, sometimes with abdominal pain but not always , So recently I went to a gastro doc and he said with me being pregnant there isn't much he can do BUT that he thinks I probably have a lactose intolerance...? So that being said here is me I am overweight 5'4 212lbs baby weight is in there too lol I don't smoke although was in second hand heavy smoke my whole childhood My diet is average, and I haven't worked out since I got pregnant... Maternal grandfather had colon cancer in his mid 70's. Father had colon polyps removed at 59 and aunt had some removed at 60My doctor said he doesn't think I have colon cancer but that he won't rule it out because he wants to take me seriously. He did a rectal exam which was really quick? and said that for the most part colon cancer causes constipation and blood...what do you all think? I am just so afraid that I will have colon cancer and leave my son too early after he is born.. I don't want to miss him growing up...oh I also have back pain but my breasts are the size of Texas AND I'm pregnant...so... yeahI think the doc is planning on a colonoscopy after I have him... but the symptoms have been present since before I was pregnant so I don't think its that being allergic to being pregnant I don't know part of me is comforted in the fact that I've had these symptoms for a long time ya know? If I was getting worse and worse then I think I would have freaked out WAY more so far... I don't know. The doctor is the one who suggested lactose elimination...which I've been trying... so we will seeOh and I'm 29 years old...did I say that?

Is being sensitive to coldness a symptom of colon cancer?

Possible colon cancer, should I be more concerned?
I have been dealing with these symptoms for as long as I can remember. I am 17. About 5 months ago I went to the doctor to see if what I was experencing was normal. It wasn't. I was experencing symptoms,Alternating constipation& diareaMucus from anusFequent to long periods of non stop painful cramps a lot worse than normal menstration cramps Small amounts of blood with stoolGasExtremely loud stomach noisesSharp pains in my side around colon area& more. But those are the most noticeable. My doctor told me to get checked for colon cancer, & that it would be very unlikely I would have it because of my age. He said I have IBS or atleast that's what they aregoing to call it untill I get checked. We never got my colon checked because the dr said it was unlikely. But, I almost want to have colon cancer rather than ibs. Ibs is something you always have to live with. I recently started getting homeschooled, because I couldn't bare the pains. I would have to squat in the hallways for 10mins or so untill the pains stopped and I could walk again. It keeps me from wanting to go anywhere. Please help? What do you think?

I'm 16 years old and a junior in high school, my dad has colon cancer and is 48.?
It's been like a month and its been really tough to see him in pain and deal with it and just tough in general on the whole family. I've tried to be supportive and helpful but I don't know how and Im just so uncomfortable about everything. Now you're all going to judge me for this and I know its not right but I went to a party last weekend and came home drunk and my parents caught me. My mom was mad as she deserves too but my dad was more disappointed. I apologized so much and I've been trying to make up for it. The night it happened my dad was so sick from chemo and seeing how disappointed I made him was heartbreaking. He said he's not mad and that " mistakes are meant to learn from" but I just feel so guilty. I want to not only be a better daughter but also support him the right way through his cancer treatment. How can I help him when he is feeling sick? What should I say? What should we do together to enjoy? Whenever he takes me out I feel guilty because I know he is probably feeling sick. I just want to make things easier for him and my mom & siblings as well and make him proud. Please help with any advice

Medical professionals, please. Though everyone's input is appreciated. Is this colon cancer?
Someone in my family who is past 70 years of age has always had hemorrhoids for as long as anyone remembers . He would also not use the bathroom when he would need to, thus his feces becoming extremely hardened, so much so that few days would go by and when he did have bowel movement the toilet would clog.Throughout the past 25 years he has bled on and off from his intestine, and everyone has blamed it on the hemorrhoids, but for about a month now these are the symptoms 1 He eats lunch or dinner and 90 % of the time he ends up rushing to the bathroom.2 More than half of the time nothing comes out. When it does it doesn't resemble the " pencil thin" or very thin one would expect when there is cancer present.3 He is changing his underwear at least twice a day because of staining. Most of time is bit of feces, at others is very tiny blood, and mostly it is a fluid.4 This fluid he says some times comes out a lot while at toilet or before he gets to the toilet. It is simply water like.Everyone thought a month ago that it was due to a bad case of the flu which he had, since it is true some people do some times secrete fluid through rectum during strong flus.I have not been able to find anything on internet, except something somewhere which said that fluid means an intestinal blockage. Person refuses to be seen by doctor and becomes bit agitated. He has been one to keep away from doctors till now that he's in old age, and only because MEDICARE encourages people to join a plan or whatever in order to be completely covered Any information you provide is really appreciated.

How do you know when your colon cancer has gotten severe?
please dont tell me ask a doctor

Stage IV colon cancer odds?
For anyone who knows more about this, please help me out My dad was diagnosed with cancer in Fall of 2008. At the time it was only in his colon. He went through chemo & radiation at the time and had surgery in the spring. A while after that, they found cancer in his liver also. They did surgery to remove the cancerous spots and ended up cutting out half his liver. Going through chemo and radiation in between all of these times, a while later they found cancer spots in his lungs also. They did a surgery to remove the spots this was last year, in the summer of 2010 . Things seemed to be going well for the past year with repeated scans. In December 2011 just under 2 months ago They found another possible spot in his lungs and he is back on chemo. For anyone with experience or knows anything about this, what are my dad's chances? Thanks for any info

Is there any risk of me developing colon cancer?
My father's aunt had colon cancer, but nobody else in my family had it.Am I in risk of getting it? I am really scared

3 years ago my mum was diagnosed with colon polyps, now she has colon cancer.why were the polyps not removed?
Mum had a colonoscopy 3 Years ago and was diagnosed with polyps. They took a biopsy but left several polyps and told her to have a screening every 3 years. 3 years on having another colonoscopy one polyp has developed into cancer. I have now research and found that most cancers develop from polyps and if detected most polyps are removed before developing cancer. So why was my mum left with multiple polyps 3 years ago.? She is going to hospital next week for scan to see if spread. Could this have been prevented?

Is this Colon Cancer?
I'm 32, and for the last two weeks I have had severe indigestion, constipation, nausea, headaches and feeling extremely tired.Today, I had blood in my stools, although I do have haemmaroids. Doc has prescribed Omeprazole to ease the indigestion, but its not helping much. Twice, in the two months prior I had shooting sharp pain when I was constipated.. the most pain I've ever been in, but it was sharp and short, and gone after I went.Waiting for blood tests... but does anyone think this could be colon cancer? I had a colonoscopy 6 years ago, removed some polyps, but they were clean. Can cancer develop during this time?I also had severe food poisoning confirmed with stool sample test in August , was put on two types of antibiotics. So my blood work came back all clean..but I'm still suffering. Not as constipated...but feel as if I constantly need to go.. and my stomach is gurgling and growling like there's no tomorrow.. I know that diagnosis can't be made online, but has anyone else had anything similar. The pain discomfort wakes me at night I have a follow up doc appointment on Friday.

Colon cancer/constipation?
this is a serious problem, i've had serious constipation for the last 4 yrs of my life and i'm twenty.I don't have money to get a colonoscopy and colon cancer and breast cancer run in my fam, both cancers lead to colon cancer. And i wouldn't say i have constipation, i'm thinking more on the lines of polyps or cancer in my colon because when my poo comes out it comes out soft always varied meaning thin thick soft undigested sometimes hard, however everytime i go i always feel like theres a lot more inside of me, sometimes its bloody i have serious problems sleeping on my stomach these days...i have constant pain, i'm not going to say it's like a 10 on a 1 to 10 scale but its definatly a consistent 5 and i feel like it could be getting worse. I quit the track team here at my college and i can't really run anymore because of this condition i can run but i have to force myself to run i'm very good at running by the way but what do you all think this could be....? also lately i've pooped and i had a lot of gas that followed and then i pooped again...thats never really happened to me before > is that normal. anyone whos a certified doctor if you could please talk to me i'd be very appreciative. thanks
