My mother is in her late 50's, and was hospitalized about 4 days ago with vomiting and bloody diarrhea. After being misdiagnosed with " ce difficile" , and having a colonoscopy, she was diagnosed with ischemic colitis. I've heard that this condition can range from extremely mild to needing surgery. She hasn't kept solid food down in a week. Does anyone know what treatment s she might require?Thank you
Is ischemic colitis an illness that can be cured?
I am a 44 yr old female, I have recently been diagnosed with Ischemic Colitis during an colonoscopy. I also had a diagnosis of C Diff. I have been on antibiotics for the past 2 weeks for the C Diff. I am very scared and would like to know if anyone has had my same experience and has had the Ischemic leave for good. I am going to a different GI Dr. she is one of the bests in Oregon. I really am excited for having a Dr. that cares and wants to get me better via surgery or whatever it takes. I would love any imput or suggestions
Birth Control causing Ischemic colitis?
I'm a healthy 27 y o who had a sudden onset of ischemic colitis. The only thing that the doctors could come up with was that I was on the pill. I went to a hematologist and had all sorts of bloodwork done and everything was normal. This was very serious and I could have lost a portion of my colon. I've since stopped taking all hormone type birth control. Could there be another reason for the ischemic colitis?
