Where is the best place for the treatment of ulcerative colitis?
My brother has had autoimmune hepatitis for about 9 years and has recently in the past year been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. The pills they prescribed him didn't do anything and now he is on remicade treatments and that doesn't seem to be working either. His doctor told him that it looks like getting surgery to remove his large intestine is the probable course of action now. His current doctor is at Duke Medical Center which is a very good hospital but doctors are just human and some are better than others, and some hospitals are better than others so I was wondering if anyone knew what the absolute best place for treatment of ulcerative colitis was. I am hoping that perhaps there is some other method of treatment that he can try instead of surgery, and I don't know if a different doctor would recommend something else or not. Also, he doesn't really have any insurance right now so if you know of any way he can get financial help for his situation or of places that treat people for free or for reduced costs that would be helpful as well.Thank you.
